We are thrilled to share the highlights from our recent faculty meeting where our outstanding teachers were recognized and celebrated for their incredible dedication to our students! 📚👩🏫👨🏫 Thirty three teachers had perfect attendance for the month of August!
We also gave a huge congratulations to Sr. Abreu for being honored as our Staff Member of the Month for the character word, kindness! 🌟🏆 His kindness is truly contagious, and it radiates through his photo with our beloved Griffin Bear, our school mascot! 🐻
But the recognition didn't stop there! We also want to extend our heartfelt appreciation to these exceptional educators who consistently go the extra mile for our students: Ms. Mayfield, Ms. Ingram, Mr. Dunn, Mr. Hightower, Mr. Stacey, Ms. Mullins, Ms. Moore, and Ms. Wilson.

Scholars, virtual credit recovery will begin Tuesday, August 22, 2023 at 3:45 p.m. All scholars will need a chromebook or a computer to complete their assignments. GSCS transportation is resuming at 4:30 pm. The severe weather has passed and is now safe for busses. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
Spalding County is under a severe thunderstorm warning until 4:30 p.m. Buses have returned students to their schools until the storm passes. It is not safe to operate buses with wind above 40 mph and this storm had winds that reached 60 mph. The weather is moving from west to east and the area of high wind is nearing the east side of the county. Once the wind and weather has subsided we will resume bus transportation and notify parents. Thank you.

The GHS Band of Gold, under the direction of Mr. Daniel Goodmond, entered the 1-800 TruckWreck 3rd Annual Greater Atlanta Band Challenge this summer. Bands submitted a performance video, as well as a brief bio of the program. I am happy to announce that the GHS Band of Gold has been selected as a Top 10 Finalist! Please help the GHS Band of Gold secure one of the top 3 spots in order to receive $10,000.00 for the band program, which is provided by the Witherite Law Group & 1-800 TruckWreck.

Results are in! Griffin High School students earned an IMPRESSIVE 89% pass rate on the AP Spanish test. The state average is 85.8, and the global average is 83.1. More than 50% of students made 4’s and 5’s on the exam, which is outstanding! Those DBQs are hard! Congratulations to Mr. Abreu and his students on your success. Hard work works!
