The 2024 high school graduation rate for the Griffin-Spalding County School System (GSCS) rose to 84.7 percent from 83.8 percent last year. The Georgia Department of Education released scores this week for all Georgia high schools. The state's graduation rate reached 85.4 percent, up from 84.4 percent in the prior year.
Spalding High School’s graduation rate rose to 83.5 percent from 81.01 percent, Griffin High slightly decreased from 85.8 percent to 85.6 percent and A.Z. Kelsey Academy decreased from 94.7 percent to 87 percent.
GSCS Superintendent Dr. Keith Simmons stated, “This increase shows we are on the right road. We will continue to follow our Road Map to Success and work toward achieving the goals of our strategic plan. GSCS is focused on empowering our students to graduate college and career ready.”
“I wish to congratulate the students, staff and families who worked together to make graduation a reality for these students, added Simmons.”
“The increase in graduation rate is the result of years of commitment by students, educators, and families alike. From the moment they step into their first classroom in pre-kindergarten, students begin developing critical skills that serve as the foundation for their long-term academic and personal success. The graduation rate represents the collective accomplishments of each student, supported by an educational system dedicated to their growth and achievement,” stated Executive Director of Teacher and Leader Effectiveness Dr. Tiffany Taylor.
