Mathematics

The Griffin High School mathematics curriculum covers a wide range of concepts and skills. Designed to provide students with a solid foundation in mathematics while promoting critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, the curriculum follows the Georgia Standards of Excellence to ensure that students are prepared for college and career success. It includes topics such as algebra, geometry, and calculus, allowing students to develop a strong understanding of mathematical principles and their applications. The curriculum incorporates a variety of teaching strategies, including hands-on activities, group work, and technology integration, to engage students and enhance their learning experience. With a focus on conceptual understanding, procedural fluency, and mathematical reasoning, classes aim to equip students with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in mathematics and beyond.

MATHEMATICS COURSE SEQUENCE CHART

Four units of core credit in mathematics shall be required of all students

  • 1 CREDIT of Algebra I + EOC - Required

  • 1 CREDIT of Geometry - Required

  • 1 CREDIT of Algebra II OR Advanced Algebra - Required

  • 1 additional Math credit - Required (approved by GA DOE)

Accelerated Track:

  • 1 CREDIT of Accelerated Algebra I - Required

  • 1 CREDIT of Accelerated Geometry - Required

 2 additional Math credits - Required (approved by GA DOE)
