Dear Griffin High Parents and Guardians,

I am writing to share our school-wide attendance results for the month of January. At Griffin High School, we know that consistent attendance is the foundation for student success, and we want to keep you informed of our progress.

January 2026 Attendance Snapshot

For the period of January 1 to January 31, 2026, Griffin High School achieved an overall average daily attendance rate of 91.63%. We are currently supporting a total student body of 1,405 students.

Grade-Level Performance

It is encouraging to see all grade levels maintaining strong attendance numbers to start the new year:

Grade Level Attendance Percentage

9th Grade 90.93%

10th Grade 92.06%

11th Grade 92.39% (Monthly Leader!)

12th Grade 91.20%

Why This Matters

While our overall rate is strong, we continue to focus on reducing unexcused absences. During January, our student body recorded a total of 1,725.20 unexcused absence days.

We want to partner with you to ensure every student in the classroom is ready to learn. If your student must be absent, please remember to submit the necessary documentation to the front office so the absence can be excused appropriately.

Thank you for your continued support of your student's education and for helping us make Griffin High a place where every day counts.

Go Bears!

Best regards,

Ms. Higdon

This week, middle and high school spring student athletes participated in the Beyond Self Athletes' Assembly, led by Community Partner and Mentor David Johnson. The Beyond Self Athlete Program is meant to grow student leadership skills, build character and improve school culture. Athletes were told they are all Persons Of Influence (POI) and the importance of the 3 R's: Respect Yourself, Respect Others and Take Responsibility. Keynote Speaker Tunji Adebayo inspired student-athletes to develop the skills and attitudes they need to recognize their potential.

Griffin High School recently hosted CTAE Proclamation Day, a special recognition of the impact Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education has on students and the community. Griffin Mayor Doug Holberg presented an official proclamation from the City of Griffin to Griffin-Spalding County Schools, formally recognizing CTAE and its role in preparing students for postsecondary success. The event featured a color guard presentation by Griffin High School JROTC and included remarks from students and teachers who shared firsthand experiences highlighting how CTAE pathways have influenced their academic engagement, career readiness and personal growth. The ceremony served as a meaningful acknowledgment of CTAE’s value and its continued positive impact on students across the district.
